Nada Nritya 2011

Nada Nritya 2011, a music and dance competition was held the weekend Nov 4-5 to promote classical music,  dance and to raise funds for Sanatan Dharma Kendra. Many factors contributed to the success and positive vibes generated at the event:
  • Contestants. Dressed in their finest and well prepared, the contestants performed at a very high level. This made for a very vibrant competition and the results could be announced only after careful deliberation. Some were placed (congratulations), but this event was so much richer because of all the participants.
  • Parents, Teachers. In getting the participants ready on time and paying attention to the minutiae regarding Raagas, dress and moves, the Parents and Teachers took great pains to ensure that the contestants did their best.
  • Judges. Volunteering their time and energy, the Judges upheld the integrity of the competition with their thoughtful evaluation of the performances. By providing constructive feed back, rendered in a very friendly, nurturing disposition, they shared their wealth of knowledge with the next generation.
  • Organizers. This event was well organized overall, and the sound systems were very well managed.
As Pandit Somayaji said in his concluding remarks, our Classical Music and Dance generate positive vibrations that uplift our soul and provide long term benefits. Combined with the efforts detailed above, the overall experience was very pleasant and fulfilling. While the event was held as a fund raiser for the Temple, it also served the larger goal of increasing the collective awareness of our traditional Art and Dharma.
